Found the easy way; found the hard way. Jughead's friend isn't helping me. I've tried many of the ways he makes things smaller, but here I sit on 36. Must be time to sleep on it.
Edit: Baby steps - Found the package, but can't unwrap it. I thought Jughead's friend was finally going to be useful but no. I looked closer and his name changed (...-). Still hunting.
Well, try to find out something about name of this file with size 0. Those letters... seem like random, but those pairs have one thing in common. When you find out this rule, think... what should be in []?
Yeah, it seems weird but it's true... Connect this [] thing with... binaries?

Thank you Beezap. I'm assuming you're hooked up again. Nice to have you back.
I played with the pattern a bit previously, but have gotten off track. Thanks for the redirection. I'll look at the binaries more closely. When I look down and think about it, does it depend on the layout of the land? Because my computer's is... different.
Edit: This level is more than a speed bump for OSX. If you have access to Windows use it here and save yourself a lot of wasted time working around it. In retrospect -- nice level overall. Couldn't have made it without help from the master.

No...NO...I am NOT going back to that level again! You can't make me!
Stuck in a loop and Lt. Commander Data isn't around to save me this time. I understand the references to Jughead's friend (above comments by Bna), but I dont know where I might find him, or even how I am supposed to know about him. The only thing I can do on this level right now is go backwards a few levels...I think I must be missing lots of pieces.

Found ---, unwrapped the first part of it, figured out what should be in []. How do I combine that with the binaries and is this so I can unwrap other part of ---?

Hint Circle - 116°
Can you see the name?
Can you read what you're looking for? Look for a (un)common one.
Use the key to decode the password to the unknown.
Nothing is what it seems...

All I've found is the clue scattered through the source. I don't know what the file extension is or even the name of the file. But I know what type of file due to the hint. Now what?

That doesn't help. If there are mwoc, then it could be lots of different "a" extensions. (I mean, just check out wiki on 'c' as in mwoc) And that still doesn't tell me what the name is.
