Hello all,
I'm kinda new here, but I definitely need some help with 27. I'm on the part with the 3's circled. I found the "something cornered" and tried a bunch of words using that. However it definitely has something to do with these numbers. I've tried many things, but nothing is budging. I don't remember the previous level that this is referring to, but from what I am gathering you don't need too much from it.

you know the tool that you need here very well
try to figure out why those two numbers give this letter...
if it is too hard - look at the pairs of numbers once again and find something specific about them

Since this puzzle relies on a previous puzzle, which puzzle does it relate to?
Is there any clue as to which puzzle it relates to, or is it just more random guesswork?
Also, I dont keep records of every single puzzle, so... Isn't there a way to solve it without referring to a previous puzzle?
I have tried 'placing' x according to the 'coordinates' I found, but no matter what system I follow, it never gives anything close to a word of any kind.

if you found "x coordinates" you should know what to do... you know the tool very well
Well I've tried everything and come up with lots of strings of meaningless letters.
Clearly, I dont know how to arrange the table to use the numbers to get letters.
I know the rows-by-columns goes 3-by-11, or 11-by-3, but there is no way to arrange them to make x fit without the result being total jibberish.
This puzzle needs some kind of clue as to how to arrange the table. There are hundreds of different ways to arrange it and apply the numbers.
My point is that there is nothing pointing to any specific method, so yeah, it's just a wild guess as to which table method to use.
Grrrr.

Does this mean that my whole conversion of numbers to letters is not relevant?
I've calculated that there are literally almost 100 different methods, and each one takes several minutes to set up and do. There's nothing that indicates which method to use, even the methods that satisfy the coordinates for x.
Do you see what I mean about this level being lame? It's just random guesswork, not figuring out clues like a riddle should be.
It's technically the same as trying to guess a random number from 1 to 100, but you can only guess each number once every 10 minutes.
This level, and a few other levels are incomplete and require huge amounts of sheer luck to solve. All the other levels, however, are total genius. It's a shame that there are incomplete levels like this one.

Yes, there is.
Really? There's a clue that satisfies "if x is * *" and pinpoints a particular method to decode the numbers into letters?
I doubt it. I've made dozens of tables that all satisfy the "x rule" and none of them give anything except total jibberish.
This level needs another little pointer, clue, hint, or something. It's broken.
Let me be clear: I think IH is genius, except for the few levels that miss out steps and leave the level unsolvable. This 27 is one of those levels.
Edit: Since this one is unsolvable for me, can someone please PM me with a very very strong hint? (or even just a quick one-sentence explanation of the solution?)
Please remember that I have read everything in this thread word by word and tried everything suggested to me. I have already 'looked down' and I know what is what if x is * *.
I would not even start posting unless I was giving help or unless I had already tried every possible avenue I could find.

This level contains all the information you need to solve it. If you think there is 100 methods of arranging the columns, you should know you're thinking wrong. Keep in mind the Occam's razor...
You've found the hidden "coordinates". Bow your head in prayer and don't underestimate the circles.
EDIT: Ok, so if you really know what the hidden hint is telling you, what is the problem with numbers? Maybe PM me with your ideas?
Aaaarrgghh! I can't believe it was so simple!
Why do I always overcomplicate things?!
THIS IS WHAT INWARD HELLIX DOES TO YOUR MIND!
Thanks to maniac, Tynka, Beezqp, Kmon, Xanax, and Falcarius for helping me with that.
You were right Beezqp, everything I needed was right in front of me, literally.
As for the last part (the 'bigger picture')... well, if you look with the right frame of mind, it's easy, but if you don't, you'll end up going insane. Onto 28 now.

Like the person above me was, I am lost. I cant figure out the collums or why that number is circled. I also dont know why X is the number it is. I don't want to post anything spoily.. Maybe someone can discuss this with me via pm please?
if you want to discuss your ideas - send PM with your questions to someone first
I know i've got everything to solve it but I still need to write something... just need to push myself. I managed to go through the 27a part, thanks to Tynka's help and turning off my brain to KISS. Two columns digits, or one column and numbers - everything literally in front of me and i've already done something similar, need to listen to the circle as well... I bet it's something with b3 but i can't find the correct solution. Will solve tomorrow.
I mean, in a few hours...
I think my brain is fading. 27 took a lot longer than it should have. Somehow I made it massively difficult. Thanks to JACA and MANIAC for help getting out of the poison ivy and back onto the path. On to 28

Well, more than year and a half after giving up on level 27, I've come back to see if I could solve it. Is there anyone around who could help me with my dumb, dumb ideas?
I'm lost as well. I've reached the part with the columns and circles.
I've found the cornered thing.
I went back to every single previous level to try and find anything useful. All I've got is a headache.
Any other helpful hint as to how to find the specific thing about the pairs of numbers, or to help me figure out why the cornered thing is what it is?
EDIT: Nevermind, got it, but while it was obvious, it also wasn't and I'm frustrated even though I've found it. On to 28.
