edit: does the fact that images with equation hints share blacked out/blank parts have any meaning?

Can anyone provide me a hint for part b? These "=" hints are omnious, a. e. I see no 7 after saving, making lines more visible and mashing any of these four together, and there's no indicator how should I mess with these (trial and error on various configurations gave me no outcome so far). Fourth is special due to page name, noticed that, but that's all. Pictures' names are either irrelevant or super mystical, I can't think of any other possibility.

the only thing I got out of connecting two pictures (why these two - dunno, trial and error) gave me something what translates to four-letter string, which seems like a part of a longer word:

Got the black hole. The last step seems to be some kind of another tricky word play. Pure URL-play levels are fun, but damn hard to follow up sometimes.
2 hint screens, however the red one looks like a wrong way indicator. Any hint, please?

Well, after one week (still short period of figuring out, I know, but still nothing and it's still said that the level is simple) I could easily copy Rubix' post, same feelings, observations and steps.

keep here-ing, the riddle is very simple, the answer is somehow complex

I arrived. Damn you, I love this game.

I was solving the Torment once and after putting the wrong answer in URL I got a large photo of grotesque mass of earthworms with a laughing sound. Damn it was terrifying, screamers were softies compared to that. My friend obtained the same screen, but his quicktime was buggy and sound arrived later, blowing off the effect. Thank you for a normal version of 404.

edit: for all people who were recently PMing me - the level is solvable, it have been changing, but it is solvable and the method (probably) remains the same - what makes no difference anyway, if you are solving it for the 1st time

Yes, that's quite an irritating shortcoming with software problems when it concerns solving riddles, but that's the way it is. I've encountered similiar problems some time ago with different riddle, but I think Muzo and scjudd are right.

edit: the only obvious advice I can think of - you can always try to use someone's else computer, a friend, library, cafe or something, but I'm sure you thought about it, sorry if it's patronizing

It's quite weird that you have been given two words from .... for free, isn't it? There must be a way to obtain it somehow and find the method to apply.
