I really got stuck on this one.

I found the key, and understand what the numbers above the circles in the middle row mean. I also found out that you can turn the circles to fit with the letter one.

But after that, I'm out of ideas. My badidea only gave me a push back...

Uh... It is google level, isn't it? Of course, you can try "use" those circles by yourself, but I really order you to get something what can "use" them instead of you. Much more comfortable

Yea, but there is problem with finding the meaning of first picture, I guess. As those "signs" are a little dusty... So they're looking like other "signs". For me it was guessing: what-the-fvck-"sign"-you-are? Crap.

If you will use Google well, you'll find what you need. Additional software is highly recommended there.

Page given you in source-code is helping a bit, but without you can solve it as well.

But don't be afraid, there are not much levels that need specific, "one and only" soft, so this problem will not disturb you very often... [I remember one more, but it's far away from 17

I got the answer off of somebody I pretty much had to. Got to the very last part myself then got stuck. This forum is proof I'm a MAC user.

I was going to ask if I was going going to run into that problem often, glad to know it's only once more.
No big deal, understandable to forget. I haven't seen another mac user in here.

really stuck on this..i used the programme to encypher, but that leaves me a combination of letters...using that on one-time pad, i still dont get anything logical!!!

well looking at the first picture I can see two normal ...s and using some imagination - another two. By rotating or mirroring the pic i don't see anything useful. Will the problem be solved when I understand how to use key.key? Because at the moment i don't have the slightest notion what to do with it

ignore key.key for a while and read the signs from the picture. They doesn't make sense at all but if you identify them right - very important HS will appear.

Either this riddle contains a mistake or the sim I found is botched (probably the latter) despite setting the parameters exactly as in the second picture, ONE letter (the first U) kept coming up as an S. I had to guess.

Hey again,
Me and my friend have tried again and have so far come up with nothing else helpful

So far this is what we've found.
We found the meaning of --- and found ---.
We also found the "find ---" page.
We thought this might of meant we need to --- for the --- but have not understood how to incorporate it into the level

.
We have been stuck for ages and have read through all previous posts,
a BIG push in the right direction would be really helpful

Okay, so about this first picture. Those eh...signs are most definitely very legible as one of three or so words. Since it wasn't any of those I started trying every other possibility and still these signs yield nothing. So I noticed there were some other things sort of hiding by themselves and got a closer look. There I see a word which means something very, very hot. Still no hs.

Edit: Solved it. My abilities to comprehend those signs in the first page were pathetic. I was convinced that it was a word. How ignorant of me...

wondering if anyone is having any problems running the software on windows 7 64bit? It doesn't seem to like my laptop

edit: for anyone else who spent hours staring at the picture trying to figure out what the hell they were looking at, there's 4 characters, not five as I initially thought. (cut if too spoiley)

edit edit: nvm, solved it, lucky for me I have an old computer that still runs xp and hasn't blown up yet.

Hello, used to play before, my old account seems to be locked so had to make a new one. (I don't mind tho, Hellix is back and I hope I can finish it this time around <3 )

Currently stuck in this one, I can interpret the image and the HS, can also find the thing in google, I just don't know how to use it or what key.key means. Yes, I can guess what the title is, it's just I don't know how to use it without a key, I just get gibberish.

Am I missing something? Just read this is a new version of the level so that explains why the previous vague hints don't seem to apply.

Most hints do apply. It now works on 64-bit Windows systems, though, which is a huge compatibility plus.

I remember nothing about the new program, though, except for the fact that it works on Vista.

Yeah, it does run on W7 64-bits. It's just I really see nothing about circles or anything. I find no traces of a key. They did mention the picture changing so thought it didn't apply.

Guess I'll keep looking if there's anything I didn't "see".

EDIT= Ok, the help menu doesn't work in W7 or Vista, was reading the manual on the site. I tried following the steps to decrypt and end up with a 3-letters word that's still gibberish.

- get key
- put key in lock (but might have to change shape of key before it will fit in lock)

I can confirm that it works under wine. It was a little buggy, if memory serves, but it did work.

I don't think wine should be that heavyweight.. a lot less so than a windows virtual machine or installing on another partition. Besides, you only need it installed long enough to solve this level.. so..

Yes, that's quite an irritating shortcoming with software problems when it concerns solving riddles, but that's the way it is. I've encountered similiar problems some time ago with different riddle, but I think Muzo and scjudd are right.

edit: the only obvious advice I can think of - you can always try to use someone's else computer, a friend, library, cafe or something, but I'm sure you thought about it, sorry if it's patronizing

0. unplug your hard drive, if you're paranoid.
1. pop in an ubuntu live cd.
2. install wine. (you're running entirely in RAM and your hard drive is unplugged. What, pray tell, could happen?)
3. solve riddle.
4. reboot.

I did have a lovely time with a dyslexic error that lost me a day's work. Finally solved that.

If you are using Firefox for your browser you will not be able to solve this level, or at least I couldn't. I had to use Microsoft Explorer to do a very important step.

It's not binary. ---

Chrome and Firefox are trying to display --- an image, which it isn't.

Have you tried simply writing what's on the picture? If you wrote it correctly, you'll get a hint screen confirming you spelled it correctly.

Then google... and you should find something.

I think I now found the correct machine (though haven't learned how to use it yet) needed and I also found the key. But now neither can I still can't read the signs in the first picture or find the so-called second picture you guys mentioned. Any nudge in the right direction?

They should give you the right machine. It's not a word. If you type them in, you should get a confirming HS... so do it. Check if you're right, then use google.

Second picture... not sure if that bit is even there by now, that level was slightly different before and has been changed to keep compatibility with newer versions of Windows, so... yeah. The general solution is still the same, regardless. Find the machine, find the key and use what you have...

The source should tell you everything you need to know to find the key. Beware: some browsers insist on treating it as an image, even though it's not, so you may see a blank page or an error message about how the image can't be displayed. Make sure to download the key instead.

Hey there! Hopefully somebody still reads this site. I played through this level already many years ago and have lost my notes and am going through all the first levels again.

Im Stuck here. I've downloaded the program, and i am failing to find these circles everyones talking about. There is also a page that gives me an error on chrome and "binary" on internet explore. I assume this is important information as I can not do anything from here without it. I put the letters given into the program and receive more gibberish as I do not have the key from the page I assume is the one not working.

If there is anybody out there bored like me during the apocalypse I would love some help...
